Summer Bees
A flower petal floats lazily to the ground
I lie beneath the tree, and wait for a sound
Chirping of birds, splashing of streams
Children's games, excited screams
The touch of grass, the feel of sun
Summer time has finally begun
Floating dresses and pastel colors
Cool lemonade made for others
Eating cheesecake on the porch
Late night walking with an old torch
Simple pleasures of life so slow
Taking time to let everyone know:
life is sweet, when in the heat
In my heart, a drum is beat
Thump thump how my heart is pounding
When I think of all that is confounding
Summer bees, so simple it seems
But what if they had the means
Of speaking as they so did please?
A chat would do surely,
But maybe they have a story,
Of summers past, and girls like me,
Lying under the big oak tree
A flower petal floats lazily to the ground
I lie beneath the tree, and wait for a sound
Chirping of birds, splashing of streams
Children's games, excited screams
The touch of grass, the feel of sun
Summer time has finally begun
Floating dresses and pastel colors
Cool lemonade made for others
Eating cheesecake on the porch
Late night walking with an old torch
Simple pleasures of life so slow
Taking time to let everyone know:
life is sweet, when in the heat
In my heart, a drum is beat
Thump thump how my heart is pounding
When I think of all that is confounding
Summer bees, so simple it seems
But what if they had the means
Of speaking as they so did please?
A chat would do surely,
But maybe they have a story,
Of summers past, and girls like me,
Lying under the big oak tree

Summer is finally here, and I intend
to enjoy every minute of it.
